Toscaanse landschappen
Toscane is een van onze favoriete vakantie bestemmingen.
De fraaie, zachtglooiende hellingen in het landschap en de lieflijke
dorpjes op de heuvels hebben mij geïnspireerd tot het maken
van een aantal schilderijen in het thema:
Toscaanse landschappen.
In dit bericht laat ik een tweeluik zien, met acryl geschilderd op
3-D doeken van elk 60x60 cm.
De schilderijen zijn niet meer beschikbaar.

In het volgende bericht ziet u vier landschappen in dezelfde
sfeervolle, warme kleurstelling geschilderd, eveneens met acryl.
de afmetingen zijn allemaal 60x60 en de prijs is 250 euro per stuk.

Tuscan Landscapes
Tuscany is one of our favourite holiday destinations.
The beautiful, gently rolling hills in the landscape
and the lovely hillside villages inspired me to make
a number of paintings in the theme: Tuscan landscapes.
In this post I am showing a diptych done in acrylic paint
on 3-D stretched canvas.
The dimensions of each piece are 60x60 cm.
The paintings are no longer available.

In the preceding post you will see four additional landscapes,
painted in the same warm acrylic colour palette.
The dimensions and the prices of each piece are
the same as the first.

Paar; Pair

Paar

Deze twee schilderijen van een man en een vrouw

in een wat dromerige, melancholieke pose

zijn geschilderd in olie op doek. Door het gebruik

van warme tinten krijgt het geheel een sfeervolle

uitstraling.

Ze zijn beide gevat in een eenvoudig zwart lijstje.

De afmetingen zijn: 70x90 cm.

De prijs is: 500 euro per stuk

The figures have a dreamy, melancholic quality.
The use of warm hues creates a pleasant radiance.
Both paintings have simple black frames.

Waternimf; Water nymph

WaternimfDit beeldje is, evenals het vorige, massief gegoten volgens
de "cire perdue methode". Het is een realistische voor-
stelling van een "schone baadster", vrij glad geboetseerd.
Het straalt een soort sereniteit uit.
Het beeldje is hier gefotografeerd op een houten sokkeltje,
maar dat heeft het niet nodig.
Het heeft een erg mooie, warme brons patina.
De afmetingen zijn: 23x12x12 cm.
De prijs is 300 euro.

Water nymphThis sculpture and its base were cast in bronze from a

single mold by the lost wax process.

It is a realistic presentation of a bather rather smoothly

shaped, radiating serenity.
It is shown resting on a wooden pedestal, but the pedestal

is not required.
The statue is finished with a beautiful, warm hue patina.
The dimensions are: 23x12x12 cm.
The price is € 300.

Relaxed

RelaxedDit is een bronzen beeldje, massief gegoten volgens de
"Cire perdue methode". Het is met een vrij grove toets
geboetseerd, maar met een verfijnd gezichtje.
De titel slaat op de pose: ze leunt ontspannen achterover
met beide handen op een soort kruk. Het beeldje staat op
een bronzen plaatje van 10x10 cm, waarmee het een
geheel vormt.
De afmetingen zijn ongeveer: 25x10x10 cm.
De prijs is 300 euro.

RelaxedThis sculpture and its base were cast in bronze from a

single mold by the lost wax process.

It was shaped with a rather course touch,

apart from the face, which is rather refined.
The title refers to the pose: she is relaxed, leaning

backwards with both her hands on a stool.
The dimensions are: 25x10x10 cm.
The price is € 300.

Pioenrozen: Peonies

PioenrozenBloemen schilderen is ook een van mijn favoriete bezigheden.
Dit zijn vrij grote pioenrozen, die stevig afsteken tegen een
herfstkleurachtige achtergrond.
Het is een groot schilderij, ongeveer 120x100 cm (bxh) in de
techniek olie op board. Het schilderij is omrand door een eenvoudig
lijstje.
De prijs van dit werk is: 500 euro.

Peonies.

Painting flowers is another one of my favourite things.These are

fairly large peonies, sharply contrasting the autumn colour background.

This is a large painting, about 120x100 cm (wxh), and was done

in oil on canvas board.

The painting is bordered by a simple frame.

The price of this work is: 500 Euros.

Steengoed; Stoneware

SteengoedEén van de thema's, waar ik lang en met plezier mee bezig
ben geweest is vazen. potten en schalen. (Morandi heeft
het zijn leven lang gedaan!!).
Dit schilderij is een er uit de kluiten gewassen exemplaar van.
Het zijn met grove toets geschilderde kruiken en een schaal,
in warme terracotta kleuren.
De materie is olie op board, dat is gevat in een zgn. "baklijst".
De afmetingen zijn: 80x100 cm (bxh).
De prijs is: 450 euro.

Stoneware

A theme that has kept me busy and brought me great

pleasure for quite some time is: vases, pots and bowls.

(It was Morandi’s life-work!).

This painting is but one example of many. It shows several

jars and a bowl, painted in oil on hardboard with large strokes

of warm terracotta colours.

The painting is mounted in a floater frame.
The dimensions are: 80x100 cm (wxh).

The price: 450 euro

Kismet

KismetDit beeld is gemaakt rond de tijd, dat door het Budels
Gemengd Koor de musical "Kismet" werd opgevoerd
ter gelegenheid van het 50-jarig bestaan van het BGK.
Ik heb die musical gezien en was onder de indruk van de
geweldige performance.
Het heeft mij geïnspireerd, om dit beeld de titel "Kismet"
te geven, vooral op basis van de prachtige, weelderige
uitdossing van een groot aantal vrouwelijke spelers.
Met dank aan BGK dus!
Het beeld is gemaakt van rose speksteen en heeft
inmiddels een nieuwe eigenaresse gevonden, die er heel
blij mee is!
De afmetingen zijn ongeveer: 48x22x12 (hxbxd).

Kismet
This sculpture was created around the time that, the musical
"Kismet" was staged by the Budels Mixed Choir (BGK)
to mark its 50th anniversary.
I attended the musical and was so inspired by the wonderful
performance, that I made this sculpture and entitled it "Kismet".
It is based on the beautiful, luxurious costumes of a large
number of the female performers. So, thank you BGK!!
The sculpture is made of pink soapstone. It has now found
a new owner, who is very pleased with it.
The dimensions are approximately 48x22x12 (HxWxD)

"Quel Amour"

"Quel Amour"

Dit sterk gestileerde beeldje is gemaakt in roze,

zachte speksteen en drukt, met weinig details,

grote genegenheid uit, vandaar de titel.

Speksteen (de chique naam is "Steatiet") komt

voor in vele tientallen vormen.

Het is doorgaans zacht en gemakkelijk te bewerken

en fraai te polijsten; hierdoor lijkt het vaak harder

dan het is.

Het is geplaatst op een arduin sokkeltje.

De afmetingen zijn: 27x40x7 cm. (bxhxd)

Dit beeld is niet meer beschikbaar.

"Quel Amour"

This highly stylized sculpture of pink soapstone expresses,
using very little detail, great affection, hence the title.

Soapstone (the chic name is "steatite") exists in
many forms. It is usually soft and easy to work with.

It can be polished to a high gloss, which makes it look

harder than it really is.

It is placed on an arduin (Belgian hard stone) pedestal.

The dimensions are: 27x40x7 cm. (WxHxD)

This sculpture is no longer available.

Ontspan; Relax

Ontspan

Dit beeldje is bijna letterlijk uit de steen gehouwen; het vormt

a.h.w. een eenheid met het oorspronkelijke blok.

De steen is weer een bonte albast, zoals het vorige.

De voorstelling is vrij realistisch; helemaal "ontspannen"!

De afmetingen zijn ongeveer: 24x14x13 cm (lxbxh)

Dit beeldje is niet meer beschikbaar.

Relax

This figure was literally hewn from the stone, and is still

united with the original block.

The stone is variegated alabaster, like the previous one.

The figure is pretty realistic, and very "relaxed"!

The dimensions are approximately 24x14x13 cm (LxWxH)

"Schwung"

Dit is een beeldje, dat ik een aantal jaren geleden gemaakt heb

in een bonte albast soort. Het is een groepje figuren, sterk

gestileerd en in een pose, waar "vaart" in zit, vandaar de

titel "Schwung".

Het is geplaatst op een mooi arduin sokkeltje.

Het beeldje heeft inmiddels een andere eigenaar gevonden.

Afmetingen ongeveer: 25x25x7 cm.

This is a figurine that I carved a few years ago in variegated

alabaster. It is a group of highly stylized figures.

It radiates "momentum" hence the title “Schwung.”

It is placed on a beautiful blue stone pedestal.

The sculpture has found a new owner.

"Red, Yellow & Blue III"

"Red, Yellow & Blue"
Dit is het derde werk in "Red, Yellow & Blue".
Weer abstract, hoewel ik er zelf een vrouw met hoed in zie.
Never mind, het pallet is weer hetzelfde als van de twee voorgangers en
ook de compositie is weer min of meer diagonaal.
De materie is: acryl op doek; geen lijst (nodig).
De afmetingen: 100x120 cm.
De prijs: 650 euro.

"Red, Yellow & Blue III"

This is the third work of the "Red, Yellow & Blue" series.
Again abstract, although I do see a woman wearing a hat in it.
Never mind, the palette is again the same as the two

predecessors and this composition is also more or less diagonal.

The technique is: Acrylic on canvas, no frame (required).

The dimensions: 100x120 cm.

The price: 650 Euros.

Dit is het tweede schilderij in de serie "Red, Yellow & Blue".
De compositie is weer diagonaal. De voorstelling is abstract,
maar kennelijk spreekt dit schilderij nogal tot de verbeelding,
want sommigen zien er een leeuw in, anderen een vogel
en weer anderen toch ook weer een vrouwenfiguur.
De materie is: acryl op doek.
De afmetingen zijn: 100x120 cm.
Het schilderij heeft geen lijst (nodig).
Het werk is niet meer beschikbaar.

This is the second painting in the series "Red, Yellow & Blue".

The composition is again diagonal. The presentation is abstract,

but apparently this painting appeals to the imagination:

some people see a lion, others a bird and still others

a female figure.

The technique is: acrylic on canvas.

The painting does not have ( or need) a frame.

Dit is het eerste werk in mijn nieuwe Blog. Ik zal het in de loop
van de tijd gestadig uitbreiden. Het is een vrijwel abstract
schilderij, maar sommigen zien er een vrouwenfiguur in.
De hoofdkleuren rood, geel en blauw (vandaar de titel dus!).
Met ongeveer ditzelfde palet heb ik een aantal schilderijen
gemaakt, waarvan ik er een deel van zal publiceren.

"Red, Yellow & Blue I"
This is the first work in my new blog. I will steadily expand
my blog in the course of time.
It is an abstract painting, but some see a female figure.
The primary colours are red, yellow and blue (hence the title,
with a wink to ……!).
Using approximately the same palette, I have made several
paintings. I will publish a few of them in upcoming blog posts.

Curriculum vitae van Thea de Werdt
Thea de Werdt werd in 1940 in Weert als Thea Verhagen
geboren. Haar belangstelling voor beeldende kunst dateert
van vele jaren her, maar ze kreeg pas later de gelegenheid,
om die belangstelling uit te bouwen en “handen en voeten
te geven”.

Na het volgen van lessen schilderen bij diverse leraren en
in diverse clubs, bleek ze toch behoefte te hebben aan een
grondige en meer complete opleiding. In 1988 is ze
begonnen aan de opleidingen tekenen/schilderen (8 jaar),
beeldhouwen en kunstgeschiedenis (5 jaar) aan de
kunstacademie te Neerpelt, België (Noordlimburgs Instituut
voor Kunstonderwijs).

Na het voltooien van deze opleidingen heeft ze een groot
aantal werken gemaakt (beelden en schilderijen) en ook
een aantal jaren zelf les gegeven.
Momenteel ligt de nadruk meer op schilderen, omdat
het beeldhouwen lichamelijk te zwaar geworden is.

Zowel in haar beelden als in haar schilderijen probeert ze
met zo weinig mogelijk details iets neer te zetten en laat
dan de verdere invulling aan de fantasie van de
toeschouwer over. Mens en natuur spelen een belangrijke rol.
Haar stijl is in de loop van de jaren sterk geëvolueerd
van realistisch/figuratief naar sterk gestileerd, soms
bijna abstract.
Kleur speelt een belangrijke rol: haar palet is fris en warm.

Zij wenst u evenveel plezier bij het bekijken van haar werk,
als zij zelf beleefd heeft bij het maken ervan.

Curriculum vitae of Thea de Werdt

Thea de Werdt was born as Thea Verhagen in Weert,

The Netherlands in 1940.

Her interest in art dates from her youth, but only many

years later did she get the opportunity to develop

that interest and make her own contributions.

After studying painting with various teachers and in clubs,

she felt the need for a more thorough and complete training.

In 1988, she began her formal studies of drawing / painting

(8 years) and sculpture and art history (5 years) at the

Art Academy Neerpelt, Belgium (North Limburg Institute

of Art Education).

After completing this training, she made a large number

of works (sculptures and paintings) and gave lessons herself

for a number of years.

Currently, her emphasis is on painting, because sculpting

has become too physically demanding (rheumatism).

Both in her sculptures, as well as in her paintings, she tries

to express things with only the necessary details and leaves

the rest to the imagination of the viewer.

Human beings and nature (e.g. flowers) are favourite themes

in her work. Her style has evolved over the years from

realistic / figurative to highly stylized, almost abstract.

Colour plays an important role in Thea’s art: her palette

is fresh and warm.

She wishes you as much pleasure and satisfaction in viewing

her work, as she experienced in creating it.
